Terms of use
Last updated: 2 April 2026
These terms govern your use of Rate Mate. By accessing or using the service, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the product.
The service
Rate Mate offers tools to explore anonymous aggregate UK freelancer rate benchmarks, submit structured rate information, view a private snapshot tied to your account, and receive optional email reminders. Features, availability, and sample thresholds may change as we improve the product.
Eligibility
You must be old enough to enter a binding contract where you live and must not use the service if you are prohibited from doing so. The service is aimed at freelancers and similar professionals, not at children.
Your account
You are responsible for activity on your account and for keeping sign-in links and credentials confidential. Notify the operator if you suspect unauthorised access.
Submissions and licence
You confirm that information you submit is accurate to the best of your knowledge and that you have the right to provide it. You grant the operator a non-exclusive licence to host, process, and use your submissions to operate the service — including computing aggregates, enforcing quality rules, and showing your private snapshot — in line with the privacy policy.
Acceptable use
- Do not misuse the service, probe or circumvent security, or impose unreasonable load (including aggressive scraping).
- Do not attempt to identify other users from aggregate data or auxiliary information.
- Do not submit unlawful, fraudulent, or deliberately misleading data.
- Do not use benchmarks as the sole basis for pricing, tax, employment, or legal decisions without independent advice.
Benchmarks disclaimer
Community-sourced figures are informational only. They are not financial, legal, tax, or career advice. Sample sizes, freshness, and confidence labels help you judge reliability but do not guarantee completeness for every niche or location.
Intellectual property
The operator retains rights in the product, branding, and compiled presentation of data. You may not copy, resell, or redistribute the service or its bulk data except as allowed by law or with permission.
Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these terms, risk to the service, or legal requirement. You may stop using the service at any time. Provisions that by nature should survive (such as disclaimers and liability limits) continue where applicable.
Disclaimer of warranties
The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the operator and its suppliers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the service or reliance on benchmarks or reminders. Our aggregate liability for claims relating to the service is limited to the greater of (a) amounts you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or (b) zero if the service is free. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under law (including death or personal injury caused by negligence, where applicable).
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will reflect material changes by updating the "Last updated" date. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms, except where law requires a different process.
Governing law
Unless mandatory consumer law in your country says otherwise, these terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction for disputes (subject to non-waivable rights you may have as a consumer).
